Merged Spanish carriers take off
SPANISH LOW-FARE airline Vueling has completed a merger with rival clickair to create Spain's second-largest airline. National carrier Iberia Airlines of Spain holds a 45.85 per cent stake in the new carrier.
Headquartered in Barcelona, the merged airline will operate out of six Spanish bases to nearly 50 destinations across Europe and North Africa, carrying an anticipated 11 million passengers a year, 30 per cent of whom will be business travellers. The combined fleet consists of 35 Airbus A320s.
From Heathrow, Vueling operates daily fl ights to Seville, La Coruna, Bilbao, and a summer-only service to Vigo.
