RAIL SURVEY RESULTS IMPROVE
PASSENGER SATISFACTION with UK train travel is at its highest level for 10 years, according rail watchdog Passenger Focus.
The organisation's latest National Passenger Survey reveals that overall passenger satisfaction with rail journeys has risen from 81 per cent in 2007 to 83 per cent last year - the highest level since the survey began in 1999.
Ratings improved across a range of areas, from cleanliness and comfort to security and staff attitudes, but only 46 per cent of travellers believe rail travel represents value for money, although that is a considerable improvement on the previous survey's 40 per cent.
Michael Roberts, chief executive of the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC), hailed the results as "a welcome recognition of the significant investment and hard work put in by the industry to deliver a better railway", although he acknowledged that "there is more to do".
