CHINESE EXPANSION FOR IHG

THE INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS GROUP (IHG) has clinched a deal to open another seven hotels in China - including the first Hotel Indigo in the Asia/Pacific region. The 180-room branded boutique-style property on Shanghai's Bund opens in 2010.

The six other additions to IHG's China portfolio will carry the more conventional InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn brands.

The first to open, in 2012, will be the 330-room InterContinental Beijing City Centre, and two Holiday Inn properties - a 310-room hotel in Shaoxing in Zhejiang Province, and a 260-room unit in Mudanjiang. In 2013, a 460-room Crowne Plaza opens in Shaoxing, along with two InterContinental-branded properties in Shanghai (380 rooms) and Fuzhou (360 rooms).
