Surge in demand
FLYBE HAS BEEN forced to increase capacity on two of its new Inverness routes because of stronger-than-expected demand.
Within two weeks of inaugurating its twice-daily Manchester-Inverness and daily Southampton-Inverness services, the carrier had to replace its 50-seat Embraer 145s with 78-seat Bombardier Q400s.
"We've been bowled over by the instant success of these routes," said chief commercial officer Mike Rutter. "It's always been part of our plan to phase out the older aircraft and replace them with our newer, more environmentally sensitive Q400s. We're delighted that these routes have proved so popular." The smaller aircraft is still being used on the Exeter-Inverness run.
